AFTER SCHOOL RESIDENCY

Class experiences are designed to be focused, fun, and dynamic explorations providing multiple access points into the world of theatre. Residencies are 8 weeks in length for one hour at a time traditionally. Everyman Education works with a PTA or school contact to coordinate, schedule, and facilitate programming.

ABOUT RESIDENCIES:

Class experiences are designed to be focused, fun, and dynamic explorations providing multiple access points into the world of theatre. Residencies range from 8-15 weeks in length and are traditionally one hour in length.

GOALS:

  • To provide a safe and creative space for students to exercise their imaginations
  • To expose students to the professional world of theatre
  • To explore essential skills of a theatre artist
  • To practice collaboration through activities, projects, and peer performance
  • To challenge students understanding of commitment
  • To inspire curiosity and creative risk-taking
  • To connect the individual to the depth and breadth of theatrical mediums

Theatrical Time Travels

Exercise your creativity with Everyman Theatre through the ages! Join us after school at Roots and Branches.  Each day features a new and exciting window into a different theatrical performance style. From mask to puppetry, to dance and music, student create a cabaret style performance highlighting their new skills to share with family and friends based on a theme chosen by the ensemble!

Dramatic Galaxies

Blast off on an outer space journey. Create characters that are out of this world in this fun and dramatic residency designed explore the body, voice, and imagination.

Around the World Adventures

Take a spin around the world. Visit different cultures and experience the ways in which stories are brought to life using song, dance, and drama.

Theatrical Explorations

Wear all of the theatrical hats! Explore music, dance, drama, and design as students build towards a skill showcase for family and friends.

4th-8th AFTER SCHOOL RESIDENCY OFFERINGS:

Theatrical Time Travels

Improvisation

Dive into the world of unscripted theatre! Identify how to be a strong partner onstage, move a story forward, and ultimately entertain the audience through compelling stories.

Play Creation

As an ensemble, generate a story, create original characters, rehearse, and have share your work for an audience of family and friends.

9th-12th AFTER SCHOOL RESIDENCY OFFERINGS:

Actor’s Tools

The art of bringing stories to life starts with an actor’s ability to connect to their body, voice and imagination. From improvisation to movement, students explore how the actor relates to all elements of the performing arts- dance, music, drama, and design. Each week a new skill, each class a new creative challenge! This class culminates in an open class sharing of work for invited guests.

Actor’s Craft

This fun and dynamic class invites students to develop their creative process. Create characters, analyze text, and learn how to approach working with a script. This monologue and scene study class, allows students to make bold choices and the importance of partnering well onstage. This class culminates a sharing of monologue and scene work for invited guests.

Taking the Stage

Learn what a professional rehearsal room looks and feels like as passionate and committed students take a script from the page to the stage. All your questions about how a theatrical production comes to life will be answered through a guided rehearsal process. From first read, to blocking the play, and developing relationships, students receive expert guidance as they take direction and ultimately share their work for an audience. This class culminates in a stage reading performance of short established script.

 

In School Residency

Everyman Theatre Education offers theatrical programming through in-school residency programs and after school enrichment settings. All class experiences are guided by talented Everyman teaching artists providing expert leadership for student's creative journey.
