What the critics are saying:

"Joyful! A great script for actors, and a good, old-fashioned, crowd-pleasing play."
–Washington Post

"Terrific! An awfully satisfying fusion of humor and insight, underlined with as much finesse as heart in Everyman's gem of a production."
–Baltimore Sun

"The audience shakes with laughter! Shanley's Moonstruck was a credit to the genre, but Outside Mullingar is even better, thanks to better jokes, better surprises, and just enough death to give the jokes their sting."
–City Paper

"A love letter straight from the Emerald Isle...a unique love story that is beautiful, endearing, quirky and not to be missed."
–MD Theatre Guide

"Hilarious! Take a pleasant break from the holiday shopping madness to watch Outside Mullingar. It's a show that lives up to Everyman's motto: Great Stories. Well Told."
–DC Metro Theater Arts

From the Pulitzer, Oscar and Tony Award-winning author of Doubt and Moonstruck comes a charming and deeply moving romantic comedy, perfect for the holiday season. Set against the rolling hills of Ireland, Outside Mullingar is the unlikely love story of Anthony and Rosemary – two introverted 40-something neighbors, whose families are in a bitter land dispute. Full of laughs and tenderhearted moments, John Patrick Shanley's poetic Irish fable reminds us all that it's never too late to take a chance on love.

"John Patrick Shanley's finest work since Doubt." – New York Times
