Education + Engagement Program Manager

The Education + Engagement Program Manager is a member of the Everyman Theatre Education + Community Engagement department helping to manage school partnership programs, designated community engagement initiatives, and support our next generation Pathway Programs. The Education + Engagement Program Manager works as part of the Education + Engagement team to plan, manage, and implement programming that serves the Baltimore community while maintaining focus on the organization’s strategic priorities and core values of people, community, and excellence .

The Education + Engagement Department is responsible for planning and implementing education programs serving students from PreK through adults of all ages as well as community engagement programming to serve Baltimore residents. The current programs include our flagship High School
Matinee Program (HSMAT), Theatre Night for Teen (TNT), In-school residencies and workshops, (Creative Pathways) Internships & Apprenticeships, Virtual Field Trips, and Summer Experience. The Education + Community Engagement Department is focused on bringing arts education into our local
schools, cultivating new audiences, enriching the patron experience, and removing barriers to access.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reporting to the Associate Director of Education + Engagement and Director of Education +
    Engagement.
  • Act as the first line of communication for all programming questions, concerns, or follow-up
    details.
  • In consultation with the Associate Director of Education + Engagement, manages, recruits,
    coordinates, mentors (within), and implements the Creative Pathways (Internship and
    Apprenticeship) Program.
  • Curates and manages educational resources for in-school residency programs including Padlet and Play Guide materials for High School Matinee Program.
  • Demonstrates clear and professional communication with all education constituents from parents to teachers, to students of all ages.
  • Support prep for all in-school residency programs and summer experience as needed.
  • Support curriculum and program development for in-school residency programs and CMAT (Childcare Matinee) programs serving students K-5 and lesson planning for High School Matinee Program for grades 9-12.
  • Support Director of Education + Engagement and Associate Director of Education in all partnership conversations with key stakeholders in cultivation and construction of new or
    returning partnerships.
  • Function as Education + Engagement representative at fairs, festivals, on-site programming, and
    Theatre Night for Teens.
  • Collaborate with Engagement Coordinator to manage scholarship and equity initiatives
    throughout Education + Engagement programs.
  • Assist Associate Director of Education + Engagement in assessment grading support for the
    HSMAT program (High School Matinee) and administer survey testimonials throughout the year.
  • Maintain a teaching foothold in our in-school residencies and provides quality control through classroom objectives, mentorships, and curriculum implementation.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 2-3 years of previous administrative or education-based work experience

ABOUT THE POSITION:

– Part-time position with hourly pay up to $18.00-20.00/hr.
– Schedule: M/W/Th/F/Rotating Saturday and Sunday at 20 hours per week or less.

Engagement Coordinator

The Engagement Coordinator is a member of the Everyman Theatre Education + Community Engagement department, assisting in the management and administration of key partnership and community stakeholders across the Baltimore community for Everyman Theatre. The Engagement Coordinator is the primary administrator for the department, ensuring that all programs and participants are adequately supported and works with the department to strategically plan and implement programming that serves the Baltimore community while maintaining focus on the organization’s strategic priorities and core values of people, community, and excellence.

The Education + Community Engagement Department is responsible for cultivating relationships with community partners and works across the organization to plan and implement community programming.

Examples of community partnerships and programming include the Baltimore City Office of Equity and Civil Rights, University of Maryland School of Social Work, Arts Education in Maryland Schools (AEMS), and an onsite gallery, Cast Conversations, and Childcare Matinee for each production. The Education and Community Engagement Department is focused on bringing arts education into local schools, cultivating new audiences, enriching the patron experience, and removing barriers to access.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reporting to the Director of Education + Engagement.
  • Manage all Community Engagement programs, curriculum design, and partnership relationships, including managing registration and advance communication with participants and partners in the Classes for All Ages and Summer Experience Programs.
  • Prep materials for programs as needed, to include K-5 grade school programs, Creative Journeys, and High School Matinee Program, among others. Assist in the preparation of other class and programming materials as needed.
  • Manage all registration intake and expense tracking for community facilitators in partnership with
    Associate Director of Education + Engagement.
  • Manage the sourcing and staffing of CE Initiatives–Childcare Matinee Programs, Cast Conversation
    facilitators, providing support for the Cast Conversation Series and Theatre Night for Teens (TNT).
  • Assist in the recruitment and coordination of contracted teaching artists (specific to CE programs:
    Essential Discussion, Industry Nights, etc.) and facilitators as needed.
  • Function as a Community Engagement representative at fairs, festivals, on-site and off-site
    programming as needed.
  • Assist Associate Director of Education in recruiting and coordinating the internship and apprenticeship program as needed and participate in mentorship responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with Director of Education + Engagement on strategic growth initiatives for the
    department and organization.
  • Work with Director of Education + Community Engagement to identify, cultivate, and coordinate
    community partnerships throughout Baltimore City and Baltimore County.
  • Maintain a teaching foothold in our in-school residency programs and function as an alternative/sub teacher when the need arises.

Teaching Artists

Everyman Theatre seeks skilled and dynamic teaching artists for on-site and in-community classes serving students of all ages.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Apply your unique theatrical background and knowledge to creating a fun, artistically stimulating class experience for students.
  • Guide students through exercises and activities in music, drama, movement, and/or visual art with a focus on social-emotional competencies
  • Create lesson plans that adhere to institutional and departmental goals that must be submitted to and approved by the department; Organize a thoughtfully structured curriculum for students, and accurately reflect successes and areas of support to the Education and Community Engagement team.
  • Follow a lesson plan provided by the department as necessary.
  • Prepare projects and activities for students, with the assistance of administrative staff.Communicate to staff in a timely manner prep needs for classes. 
  • Demonstrate patience, compassion, and energy in a focused manner.
  • Support students on their learning journeys through engaging content, reflective conversations, and advocacy.
  • As an instructor, exhibit behavior and execute classroom management strategies that are in accordance with Everyman Education and CE expectation and values, as outlines in the Everyman Theatre Code of Conduct

Desired Skills + Experience

  • A passion for working with students that may range in age from early childhood through adulthood. Please indicate your experience with various age ranges, as well as any preferred age ranges, in your application materials. 
  • A background in creative dramatics or interdisciplinary arts, certification or training in a specialized theatrical discipline, and/or experience crafting devised work. 
  • A background in theatre and/or education, with professional theatre experience preferred.
  • A desire and enthusiasm for working in a professional theatre environment, particularly with youth.
  • A willingness to collaborate with other artists, educators, and staff.

About the Position

  • Teaching Artists are independent contractor positions with a starting pay scale of $55 per class, commensurate with subject expertise, qualifications,  program, and length of class. 
  • Additional compensation for planning periods and orientation meetings will be provided. 
  • Classes take place at either Everyman Theatre, 315 W. Fayette Street Baltimore, MD OR in various community locations in Baltimore City and Baltimore County.

Production

Sound Board Operator

Everyman Theatre is seeking a Sound Board Operator for productions in its upcoming season. The Sound Board Operator is responsible for running sound cues for technical rehearsals and performances. They are responsible to the
Audio/Visual Supervisor and Production Stage Manager for their show track as well as pre- and post- show duties.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepare and test the sound system before all performances
• Run the sound board for all technical rehearsals and performances
• Some console and QLab programming during technical rehearsals
• Work with the Audio/Visual Supervisor to maintain the system during show runs
• Work with the Stage Manager to maintain the integrity of the sound design for each performance

QUALIFICATIONS + REQUIREMENTS:
• Experience working with digital sound consoles and QLab playback software
• Have strong troubleshooting skills with sound systems
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong sense of professionalism and respect for theatre etiquette
• Must be available on nights and weekends

This position is contracted for the run of the performance and includes technical rehearsals. Scheduling conflicts will be considered before hiring. The first show of the 2022-23 season is Dinner and Cake by Tuyet Thi Pham. It enters
technical rehearsals on August 30th, begins preview performances on September 6th, Opens September 9th, and closes October 2nd. Performances are usually 8 times a week, Tuesday-Sunday nights with matinee shows on Saturday and
Sunday. Pay is $15 per hour.
