Everyman C.A.R.E.S.

WHAT IS CARES?

Everyman C.A.R.E.S. (Committee for Anti-Racism, Equity, Solidarity) is a team of staff members committed to identifying and addressing personal and institutional bias, and actively taking steps to promote a safe, inclusive workplace through accountability and meaningful conversations.

OUR COMMITMENT

Everyman C.A.R.E.S. represents the intersection between identities and personal needs with our work as an organization. It was established to ensure we remain an anti-racist, multicultural institution that gives agency to varied experiences while being mindful of the historically marginalized communities. As such, we aspire to become an artistic home that is multicultural in representation and centered on anti-racist and anti-oppression practices. We commit to improving our individual biases and ask each member of our community to help create a work culture that is supportive and safe.

GRATITUDE FOR THOSE WHO CAME BEFORE US

We honor the Indigenous Piscataway, Lumbee, and Cherokee people of Baltimore City and the unceded ancestral lands of the Piscataway on which Everyman Theatre resides. We also show reverence to the enslaved Africans whose forced labor built Baltimore during the colonial era and beyond. We acknowledge the harm inflicted upon the Indigenous communities and People of Color in our own neighborhood as a first step to support and promote more visibility to those communities moving forward, but commit to making Everyman Theatre a home where people of all backgrounds are always welcome.
