Everyman Theatre Visual Arts Gallery Presents: The Photography of Teresa Castracane
Solace in Solitude
Art Installation on display February 7- March 2
(Baltimore, MD) – Everyman Theatre is thrilled to announce the Featured Gallery Artist, featuring the stunning work of photographer Teresa Castracane. This exhibition will run concurrently with the performances of Eboni Booth’s critically acclaimed play, Primary Trust, onstage at Everyman, February 4 – March 2. Earlier this season, Everyman reconceptualized the gallery space by moving it from its previous location in the lower lobby of the theater to the Stan and Martha Weiman Mezzanine to offer a more prominent space for patrons to enjoy a drink, or snack, and to connect with local artists within the DMV footprint.
Teresa Castracane is a portrait, performance, and fine art photographer who currently resides in Cheverly, Maryland, with her husband and two children. Teresa’s fine art photography has been displayed in numerous DC-area art venues. Teresa is the performance photographer for several theaters, including Everyman, and her theatrical work has been featured in popular publications like the New York Times and Washington Post. In addition to her impressive photography career, Teresa is a classically trained stage actor and a member of Actors’ Equity Association and the Screen Actors Guild.
“I have had the pleasure of directing Teresa as an actor. She is an artist who feels deeply and authentically, and that energy is immediately evocative in both her work onstage and as a visual artist. It is an honor to be showing her work in our gallery at Everyman,” states Everyman’s Director of Education and Gallery Curator, Joseph W. Ritsch.
“It is always a pleasure to come to Everyman to photograph their beautiful productions, so I am delighted to show my photography work in the gallery here. I was particularly moved by this play, Primary Trust. I’m hoping that visitors to the gallery will find that the artwork there provides another way to engage with the themes of the work on stage,” remarks Castracane.
ABOUT THE ART
Solace in Solitude
I cherish and fiercely protect my time alone but am also deeply susceptible to loneliness. To ease the difficult times, I look for beauty in things that cannot be taken away from me, either because they exist in nature, or in my imagination. This collection illustrates personal experiences of solitude, as well as the beauty and grace I’ve found within it. -Teresa Castracane
