FOR PATRONS WITH MOBILITY CONCERNS
Everyman Theatre is ADA compliant, offering a gently sloping ramp into the Lobby and Theatre, with step-free access to seating. We offer accessible bathrooms, one of which can provide a personal private facility if needed. We also offer early seating for patrons with mobility concerns.
FOR PATRONS WHO ARE DEAF OR HARD OF HEARING
Assistive Listening Devices
Everyman offers a limited amount of assistive listening devices for every show. These devices can be picked up at the Box Office prior to a performance. The Box Office will ask for a license or credit card as collateral while the device is being used, which will be returned to you when the ALD device is returned. The ALD system also works with T-coil hearing aids.
ASL Sign Language Interpretation
ASL Sign Language Interpretation is provided upon request. To request an ASL interpreter, please contact the Director of Patron Experience Corey Frier at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please allow two weeks' notice so that we can arrange for accommodations.
Closed Captioning Device
Everyman offers patrons complimentary iPod Touches with closed-captioning software installed on the device. These iPods can be picked up at the Box Office prior to a performance. When signing out the device, the Box Office will ask for a license to be held while the iPod is being used; this will be given back to you when the iPod is returned. The Simultext app is also available for patrons to download and use on their own iPod Touch or iPhone. (An Android app is currently not available.) Closed Captioning Devices are available at all performances.
While reading a script in no way replaces the live theatre experience, patrons can request a script in advance to prepare for their trip to the theatre.
FOR PATRONS WHO ARE BLIND OR HAVE LOW VISION
Touch Tours and Readings for the Blind
Everyman has partnered with the Maryland State Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped for several years. Each season, Everyman Theatre hosts what is known as a “touch tour” of a given production. This tour allows patrons of the Library for the Blind to touch and explore various aspects of the set, sound, and costume design for the show. Throughout the season, Everyman also brings cast members from selected plays to read scenes at the Library. Everyman also offers audio described performances of all productions. Patrons may request audio description on a given date by calling the box office during normal business hours.
Large Print Programs
Complimentary Large Print programs are available upon request from the Box Office. No reservation is necessary, although if patrons notify us in advance, we can have Large Print programs set aside just for you.
Provided upon request with the support of Maryland Arts Access, Audio Description offers live description of the play's action and production elements between dialogue on stage. Requests should be submitted 10 business days prior to the desired performance. Please contact the Director of Patron Experience, Corey Frier, at email@example.com to make a request.
